Last Updated: 16th May 2018.
  1. The primary purpose of the MIRU-VNTRplus website is for the typing and global epidemiology of Mycobacteria. Data analysis for research should be viewed as a secondary objective.
  2. The MIRU-VNTRplus website was programmed at the Department for Periodontology, University of Münster, Germany, which provided the resources for this project. Data for the reference database was made available by Institut Pasteur de Lille, Lille, France and Forschungszentrum Borstel, National Reference Center for Mycobacteria, Borstel, Germany. The website is maintained by Ridom GmbH.
The persons responsible for the site ("Database Team") are as follows:
    • The advisory committee: Prof. Dr. Dag Harmsen and Dr. Philip Supply
    • Database curator: Prof. Dr. Stefan Niemann
    • Website Manager: Dr. Thomas Weniger
  3. Although the website is developed by Department for Periodontology, University of Münster and curated by the National Reference Center for Mycobacteria, Borstel, we see the MIRU-VNTRplus database as a joint project of the scientific community in the field.
  4. The objective is that the website contains facilities for querying the database and analysis of the data. The results of these queries and analyses may be used and published by the users. However, this website must be acknowledged in all publications.
  5. The preferred format of the acknowledgement is: This publication made use of the MIRU-VNTRplus database website (http://www.miru-vntrplus.org/) developed by D. Harmsen, S. Nieman, P. Supply and T. Weniger. Furthermore we ask users to cite the following reference in publications that benefit from this database:
Allix-Béguec C, Harmsen D, Weniger T, Supply P, Niemann, S. Evaluation and user-strategy of MIRU-VNTRplus, a multifunctional database for online analysis of genotyping data and phylogenetic identification of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex isolates. J Clin Microbiol 2008, 46(8):2692-9 [Pubmed]
  6. Data submitted by users of the MIRU-VNTRplus service is NOT stored permanently except for new MIRU-VNTR patterns (expanding MLVA MtbC15-9 nomenclature) if explicitly agreed by the user (privacy statement).
  7. Individuals may download the database and use the content for non-commercial purposes only. Copies of the MIRU-VNTRplus database may not be used without permission to produce database driven web server or any other product or service. At present, no password is required to use the facility but this may be introduced in future.
  8. We reserve the right to enforce other stronger security measures if we detect abuse of the website.
  9. We cannot be held liable for any misuse of data held on this site or for any consequences of errors, loss or corruption of data, or of down-time of the site.
